NOPOOR Summer School: "Measuring Poverty on a Multidisciplinary Basis"

Motivation:

The NOPOOR project (www.nopoor.eu) is a European FP7 project, launched on April, 1st 2012 for 5 years. It gathers 20 research institutions from 17 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin-America. With over 100 research programs, it aims to enhance the knowledge on poverty and inequalities in developing countries. NOPOOR has the intention to better assess the public policies, as well as the International and European aid, with a view to provide policymakers with relevant facts and tools, for more efficient public policies. A significant part of the program is devoted to disseminate new knowledge to young researchers and professionals as part of a “Training and Capacity Building” Work Package (WP12). In this context, we are organizing a Summer School entitled “Measuring Poverty on a Multidisciplinary Basis”, held in Paris-Dauphine University, Paris, France, June 26-July 1. Its aim is to give a comprehensive view of the issue of poverty measurement by inviting top academics in the field who are using a broad range of methods and approaches. The closing day of the summer school will take the form of a round table jointly organized with UNESCO. The summer school addresses PhD students, Post-docs and young researchers with a strong academic record and a keen interest on poverty issues.
